01Terms of use
These terms apply to your use of this website and to commissions placed with Mint Space, a bespoke shapewear studio at Mizuhonocho in Ashikaga, Tochigi. By using the site or booking a fitting you accept them. If anything here is unclear, write to us before you commit to anything and we will explain it plainly.
02What this website is
This site describes what the studio makes and how it works. It is not an online shop: there is no basket, no checkout and no stock to buy from a shelf. Every garment is made to order for one person after a fitting, and the pages describing the sculpting bodysuit, waist shaper, tummy control brief, shaping slip, postpartum support garment and bridal commission are descriptions of the studio's scope, not offers that bind either side.
03Quotes and prices
A price is given only after the first fitting, once we know the garment, the fabric and the amount of work involved. It is quoted in Japanese yen, tells you whether consumption tax is included, and is confirmed by email or on paper. A quote stays valid for the period stated on it. If you ask for a change after the quote, for example a different neckline or a second layer of compression jersey, we will tell you what it does to the price before we begin.
04Deposit and payment
A deposit of 50% is taken at the first fitting to confirm the commission and cover materials. The balance is due at the final fitting, before the garment leaves the studio. Payment is by bank transfer or in cash. No payment is taken through this website, and we will never ask you to pay by sending card details through the contact form or by email.
05Made to measure means final
Because each piece is cut to one body, it cannot be resold or exchanged for another size. If you cancel before we have bought materials for your commission, the deposit is returned in full. If you cancel after materials have been bought or cutting has begun, we keep the part of the deposit that covers the work and materials already used and return the rest. If the finished garment does not match the pattern we agreed at the toile, we will adjust or remake it at no charge.
Nothing in this section limits the rights you have under Japanese consumer law.
06Fittings, timing and alterations
Most commissions take four to six weeks from the first fitting; bridal commissions, with three appointments and a toile, usually take six to eight. These are estimates, not promises. If you have a fixed date, tell us at the first contact so that we can say honestly whether it is workable. Small adjustments are made at the final fitting without charge. Later alterations, for instance after a change in weight or after pregnancy, are done on request and may be charged.
07Health and comfort
Mint Space garments are made for comfort, support and the way clothes sit. They are not medical devices, and nothing on this site is medical advice. The postpartum support garment in particular is a gentle abdominal support, not treatment: please talk to your doctor or midwife about recovery, and about when it is sensible to start wearing any compression garment.
If a garment causes pain, numbness, dizziness or difficulty breathing, take it off and contact us; we will review the fit.
08Care and garment life
The care notes on this site describe how we wash and store our own garments. How long a piece keeps its compression depends on how often it is worn, how it is washed and how the body changes, so we cannot promise a fixed lifespan.
09Content and patterns
The text, photographs and layout of this site belong to Mint Space or are used with permission. You may read them and link to them for personal, non-commercial purposes. Patterns, toiles and construction details created during your commission remain the property of the studio; you own the finished garment, but not the pattern.
10Limits of responsibility
To the extent Japanese law allows, Mint Space is not liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from use of this website, or for decisions made on the strength of the general information in our notes and FAQ. This does not exclude liability that cannot be excluded by law, including for our own intent or gross negligence.
