Where is the name ‘Tora’ from?
The name Tora comes from the Greek word τώρα meaning now.
Where are you from?
We are from Byron Bay Australia which is a beach town on the east coast.
Tell a bit about the band members. How did you meet? When did you start making music together?
We are 4 friends who went to high school together and started making music as Tora back in 2013.
How much time did you set aside to work on ‘Take A Rest’?
We wrote the album over 2-3 years, but we spent 6 weeks at the end really focusing on it all together recording/producing/mixing it.
You are about to start a tour, do you have any consuetudes/customs before the show or maybe after?
Usually, before the show we just chill together in the green room drinking beers and making jokes, then before we get on stage we often have a group hug and look each other in the eyes.
What music do you like to listen / favourite artists or bands and influences?
The last band/singer that you discovered, loved and in your opinion, people should listen to him/her/them
Tell a funny/sad/touching/motivating/whatever story from your life as a musician
When I was 13 my guitar teacher who was my sister’s boyfriend, died in a car crash. I was devastated because I looked up to him a lot. From that point on I became obsessed with music and dedicated my life to writing songs.
